Description du programme

The class rating course enables pilots to extend their competency to a new class of aircraft and to gain access to new professions such as parachuting and aerial photography and cargo transport. The Pilatus PC6 can be used in many roles and is used by many operators around the world.

The holder of a Pilatus PC6 class rating enables the pilot to act as pilot in command on the Pilatus PC6 (FCL.705). The objective of the PC6 rating is familiarisation and mastery of the aircraft in all situations. The Pilatus PC6 requires experience with tail wheel aircraft types and is a demanding aircraft needing regular and recent training.

Course entry requirements

The Pilatus PC6 is a single pilot single engine high performance aircraft (FCL.720.A). Candidates must have:

  • A valid PPL(A) or CPL(A),
  • A class 1 or 2 medical certificate,
  • At least 200 flight hours of which at least 70 as pilot in command,
  • Have a tail wheel TW rating, and
  • Aged 18 or over

Detailed course description

The course is run over one week and comprises:

  • The ground school classes for the technical knowledge required to operate a single pilot single engine high performance aircraft.es.
  • 4 hours 45 minutes of practical flight training with instructor in VMC.

An initial skill assessment using a CAP10 aerobatics aircraft is a pre requisite for the course in order to verify tail wheel competency on take-off and landing.

Diplômes et examens

The PC6 class rating is validated by an approved  flight examiner during a practical skill test. The licence can then be endorsed with a Pilatus PC6 rating.
